Provençal Goat Cheese Tarts

Tangy goat cheese combined with sweet relish and topped with tomato make easy yet impressive appetizer tarts.

1 pkg (454 g)
frozen butter puff pastry, thawed and cold
All-purpose flour
6 oz (175 g)
soft goat cheese
1/2 cup (125 mL)
Nanny Hudson’s Homestyle Relish
2 tsp (10 mL)
Dijon mustard
1 tsp (5 mL)
chopped fresh thyme
1 1/2 cups (375 mL)
heirloom cherry tomatoes, sliced
large fresh basil leaves, torn
Sea salt
Freshly cracked pepper


  • 1 Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). On lightly floured surface, unroll puff pastry sheets. Cut each 10-inch (25 cm) square sheet into 9 squares. Transfer to parchment paper–lined baking sheet and prick all over with a fork.
  • 2 Mix together goat cheese, relish, mustard and thyme; spread over pastry squares, leaving thin border around edges. Top evenly with tomato slices. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until pastry is flaky and golden.
  • 3 Garnish with basil; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly before serving.
